My passion for food and nutrition started when I was ten years old. My parents wrote a letter to the cereal companies asking why they used BHT and BHA as preservatives in the cereal. At that moment, I knew that food companies put dangerous chemicals in food. As I got older, restricting sugar and not eating junk food was a rule in my house. In the late 1970s, my Dad went to see a new nutritionist, Dr. Robert Atkins. For my whole 8th grade school year, I would eat a hamburger with no bread for lunch.
These experiences shaped my love for food and nutrition. I am convinced that people, unbeknownst to them, are either eating for wellness or sickness. I have spent my career as a food service director and a location safety manager, trying to help people understand this.
